Dana Petroleum is heralding in the holidays with the installation of a new subsea Christmas tree on a North Sea field.
Island Drilling, which carried out the work, has shared a video on LinkedIn of the structure being fitted on the BP 11 (BP-7), part of the Western Isles development.
Alongside energy services mammoth Petrofac, the Xmas tree was lowered onto the wellhead using a 165 tonnes active heave compensated crane on the Island Innovator rig.
Subsea trees are formed of an array of valves and pipes, and are responsible for regulating the flow of oil from the field.
As well as monitoring and controlling hydrocarbons, they are a good gauge of offshore activity levels.
Island Drilling was also responsible for spudding the BP-7 appraisal well at the Barra field, a tie-back to the Western Isles vessel.
The vessel also carried out workover operations at Tailwind Energy’s Orlando field in the North Sea.
It’s part was announced earlier this year that Island Drilling had won a contract with Dana worth around $30 million.
It covers three wells, with a further one-well option.
