Renewable Energy Generation (REG) will take over a wind project by South Staffordshire College.
The project, located at the college’s Rodbaston campus, will comprise of two 2MW turbines and is expected to deliver 11GWh of clean electricity annually.
Under the agreement, REG will make annual payments to the college for the duration of the process, while keeping the turbine open for students for educational purposes.
The construction of the project is due to start before the end of the financial year.
“We are delighted to be able to partner with South Staffordshire College on this wind project which originally received planning permission in 2010,” said Andrew Whalley, REG chief executive.
“This is an excellent example of the wind industry working within a local community not only in terms of providing financial assistance but, perhaps more importantly, valuable educational support”.
