Utilities giant E.ON has appointed two chief commercial officers for its new energy trading unit – including Vattenfall’s chief executive.
Stephen Asplin will join E.ON’s power and gas trading division from his current position as a managing director at the Swedish power firm which he held since 2009.
He previously worked for six years at a Dutch utility firm Nuon, bought by E.ON the same year.
David Finch, currently the head of E.ON Global Commodities (EGC) coal and freight trading division will become chief commercial officer for global trading in coal, oil, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and freight at EGC on November 1.
The company said the new merchant trading unit, launched this year, would seek more trading opportunities out of the United States and Asia.
