North Sea operator GDF Suez has come up dry in its latest wildcat off the Gjoa field.
The company was looking to drill for targets in the Viking and Brent groups, but while the Transocean Barents found traces in the well, it has been classified as dry.
The site, eight kilometers west of Gjoa, is the ninth well drilled on the field.
Meanwhile Lundin has started drilling a new appraisal well on the Luno II structure, south of the Edvard Grief field.
The company estimates the area could contain up to 120,000 barrels of oil equivalent.
The Bredford Dolphin semi-submersible rig is to carry out the work on the field, which is around 9km southeast of a previous discovery well on the Luno II find.
