Maintenance work across a host of Norwegian fields saw the country’s oil production fall nine per cent short of predictions, new figures have revealed.
Output from Norwegian continental shelf operations was up 175,000 barrels per day month on month to 1.751million barrels of oil equivalent per day, while gas sales rose to 9.4billion standard cubic metres.
However, the oil production levels (1.4million bod) were 9% below the predictions of the Norwegian Petrolium directorate, and 5% down on the same period last year.
“Alve, Balder, Vitus, Front, Heidrun, Kristin, Marulk, Norne, Shoulders field, Tyrihans, Urd and Vigdis had reduced production in October due to planned maintenance work,” the directorate said.
“Njord has been shut down since 27 July and will most likely not be operational again until the summer of 2014. This is due to amplification of platform construction.”
