China New Energy has landed two contracts worth a combined £60million to provide technology and training for two bioethanol plants in Hungary.
The bio-engineering and technology company has been awarded two contracts over a four-year period for technology and training at two biorefinery plants for Vistonai and Helvéciai – as part of the tendering process, the company has compelted the design for both projects.
The first project at Vistonai is due to enter full commercial production in 2016, converting maize feedstock into 150,000 litres a day of ethanol. The second site at Helvéciai will also use maize as its feedstock, producing 300,000 litres of ethanol a day.
CNE will supply the pre-treatment, fermentation, distillation and dehydration technology to the project. The company will also provide training and maintenance support for the sites. Local contractors will carry out the engineering and construction work at the sites.
“Whilst the market has been very challenging in recent years, we hope that our recent success marks a recovery in the global bioethanol markets and reflects the confidence shown in CNE’s advanced technologies,” said chairman Mr Yu.
