Floating production system provider SBM has been named employer of the year at a global energy industry safety award.
The Netherlands-based firm picked up the top award at the Opito awards for oil and gas workforce safety at the group’s annual conference in Abu Dhabi.
SBM beat off competition from Stork Technical Services and Total’s Abu Al Bukhoosh academy in the United Arab Emirates for the award.
MSTS/Falck Safety Services Malaysia was named training provider of the year ahead of Australian group IFAP and Indonesian group PT Samson Tiara.
“The outstanding quality of this year’s entrants demonstrates that organisations are reaching the highest standards in safety across the oil and gas industry,” said Opito boss David Doig.
“It is pleasing to note that an increasing number are looking to standardise their training and implement a recognised set of procedures.”
