Leni Gas and Oil is on track to drill two new wells at the Goudron field in Trinidad.
The company today confirmed it was working with authorities to complete all final approvals for two new wells.
“We are delighted that the next phase of our field re-development at Goudron is about to get underway,” said chief executive Neil Ritson.
“Drilling of new wells will result in a greatly accelerated increase in oil production.”
To date, Leni has reactivated 58 out of about 90 wells at the field and Mr Ritson says the company is on track to bring a further 10 wells on stream by early 2014.
“The drilling of new infill wells however presents by far the greatest potential for production enhancement in the short to medium term,” said Mr Ritson.
The last well to be drilled at the Goudron Field was drilled by Texaco in 1981. It ceased production in 1986 and was recently put back on pumped production by Leni at a rate of around 20 barrels of oil a day.
The two new wells, which will target known productive intervals in the Goudron, Gros Morne and Lower Cruse sandstones, are expected to produce at initial rates of at least 60 barrels of oil per day.
