Bilfinger Salamis has appointed a new managing director for its UK operations as it looks to drive its oil and gas business
Graham Hayward will oversee the upstream oil and gas arm of the services contractor.
A separate downstream business, Bilfinger Industrial Services, will also be based in Runcorn.
Industry veteran Hayward, who joins from Oceaneering, has more than 20 years experience in North Sea offshore projects with Petrofac, Amec and Aker.
“I am delighted to be joining Bilfinger in Aberdeen at this very important time in its development,” he said.
“The Salamis organisation has a great track record of servicing blue chip customers.”
The new unit is part of a six-division industrial arm, with more than more than 350 staff at its bases in Aberdeen and Lowestoft.
It also employs more than 2000 offshore, with the new UK upstream operations to work alongside a sister business in Norway.
“Graham brings many years of North Sea industry experience, business integrity and a strong focus on customer service that will benefit the key stakeholders,” said Bilfinger industrial chief executive Steve Waugh.
“The business has performed strongly in 2013 with record sales, very strong customer retention, double digit improvement in our safety frequency rates and strong progress in the development and improvement in our people development programme.”
