A £450million energy park which could create thousands of North Sea renewables jobs has been given the go-ahead.
The Government has approved plans for the Marine energy park near North Killingholme in Lincolnshire, after originally delaying a decision earlier this year.
The Able project, which will cover 800 acres of riverside, includes a 1.3m deepwater quay and facilities for making and transporting offshore wind turbine parts, along with other North Sea projects.
Local industry leaders believe the project could create up to 4,000 jobs in the region.
“This announcement could be the catalyst for further investment in the region,” said Renewable UK deputy chief executive Maf Smith.
“Alongside recent announcements of investment in Grimsby, this shows how offshore wind is bringing real opportunities to regions like the Humber.
“Offshore wind, and the supply chain it is building, could create tens of thousands of green-collar jobs to coastline communities in areas where they’re needed most.”
