Total has stepped up its interest in the Valleys prospect in the Moray Firth after buying another major interest in the area.
The French major has agreed a deal with North Sea firm Noreco to take 35% of its 50% stake in the site, which sits between the Moray Firth and West Forties basins.
The deal comes just days after Total bought a 30% stake in the licence from Trapoil.
Noreco will retain a 15% stake in the licence, with Total covering the Norwegian firm’s share of the seismic costs and drilling costs if exploration is carried out on the prospect.
