North-east offshore emergency support group Survival Craft Inspectorate has named David Weston as its new training and competence manager.
Former RAF man Weston, most recently an instructor at Burnley College, previously oversaw training and competency for Centrica’s East Irish Sea operations.
He will head up the training academy in Stonehaven, along with a taking a company-wide auditing role.
“I’m delighted to be joining a large international organisation which nevertheless still holds the values and qualities of a family business,” said Weston.
“I’m looking forward to ensuring we maintain the correct certification for all our staff and taking opportunities to enhance skills along the way. More than that, the role of heading up the new training academy is a very exciting one.”
The training academy will look to host up to 5,000 students a year looking to enhance their survival and safety skills.
“David’s dual role of auditing the team to ensure everyone in the company is the best they can be, whilst at the same time leading our new training academy, is an important one for the business,” said SCI chief executive Derek Sinclair.
“We’re delighted David has joined us to lend his experience and expertise to our in-house capabilities.”
