Wood Group and Stork have landed a £300million services contract for BG Group’s North Sea platforms.
The five-year contract will see the two companies provide a range of specialist support to BG’s Armada, Everest and Lomond assets, which are located in the central North Sea.
The two Aberdeen-based service companies will work alongside BG Group’s North Sea operations teams to provide engineering, project management and construction services. They will also provide shutdowns, asset integrity and maintenance support.
BG says the contracts have been awarded in a bid to streamline and consolidate work at the platforms, which was previously carried out by a range of different companies.
Wood Group PSN managing director Dave Stewart said up to 300 jobs, both onshore and offshore, will be created in the UK as a result of the contract.
“This is a significant win in terms of size, value and the number of jobs it will support and we are excited to be working with BG Group,” said Mr Stewart.
The contract will start in November 2014, with the 300 jobs split equally between onshore and offshore emloyees.
A Wood Group PSN spokeswoman said: “We will be transferring the majority of personnel from the incumbent contractor to WGPSN, but we will be recruiting for some key positions next year.”
Stork senior vice president Erik-Jan Bijvank said the contract offered significant opportunities for the company.
In June, BG awarded AMEC a £110million contract extension to support operations on the group’s three central North Sea platforms.
The engineering giant will provide support to the Flotel campaigns on Everest and Lomond, which are planned for 2014 and 2015.
BG Group’s North Sea operations include the Armada, Everest and Lomond platforms, as well as non-operated interests in the Buzzard, J Area, and Elgin and Franklin fields. It also has a stake in BP’s CATS pipeline, which comes ashore at Teeside.
Meanwhile Technip has announced it has been awarded four life of field contracts for the North Sea.
The deals see the French services group providing diving operations to prepare for decommissioning of the Shell Delta Brent facilities, pigging operations for Fairfield Merlin field construction work on Causeway for Ithaca energy and providing conductor maintenance for Taqa’s Harding field.
