The troubled Siri North Sea platform is set to resume production after a temporary fix was approved.
The Dong Energy-operated platform will begin production again in early 2014, after being shut down since the summer.
Cracks discovered in the sponsoon tank left the field, which has suffered from a number of production problems due to damage to the platform over the last few years, caused the latest shutdown.
Full repairs are not due until next summer but now Danish authorities have approved a short-term solution which will allow operators to resume production on fields tied to the platform.
The news has been welcomed by North Sea operator Noreco, which has seen much of its operations in the region wiped out this year due to the production problems.
“The temporary solution involves transfer of stabilised crude directly to tanker,” Noreco revealed in a statement today.
“Certain operating restrictions have been imposed, including de-manning of all personnel when significant wave heights at the platform exceed six meters.”
