Oil engineering group KBR is to provide support services for the giant Shah Deniz project in Azerbaijan.
The company, which carried out FEED services on the second stage of the £17billion scheme, will now provide engineering and procurement services for the project, which will pipe gas for Europe from the Azeri field.
“KBR is delighted to continue our longstanding relationship with BP and its partners by taking this world class energy project to the execution stage and follows KBR’s 20 year presence and successful track record in Azerbaijan working with BP on both the Shah Deniz and ACG fields,” said the firm’s group president Roy Oelking.
The four year deal, the value of which has not been disclosed, will see KBR providing design and support on the offshore platforms and onshore gas processing for the second phase of the project.
Work is due to start next month on developing the two offshore fixed jacket platform and gas processing trains for the onshore processing facility.
