Wood Group has landed a deal to carry out verification work on Statoil’s Mariner field project.
The deal, which runs until 2015, will see the company’s Wood Group Kenny arm conducting third party verification of the fields subsea infrastructure, umbilicals, risers and flowlines.
Work will be carried out by the company’s office in Stavanger for the £4.5billion project, which sits 150km east of the Shetlands.
“Our extensive experience in the subsea arena, both in the UK and Norway, will be utilised to the full in the successful delivery of this project,” said regional director Bob MacDonald.
The Mariner project has sparked a major investment into the UK North Sea by Statoil, which has recruited dozens of staff for a new office in Aberdeen.
The company told Energy Voice last year it was set to open up bidding for work on the field from UK firms over the New Year.
