A conference dedicated to the technologies that will unlock remaining North Sea reserves will take place in Aberdeen next month.
The not-for-profit Industry Technology Facilitator (ITF) has joined forces with Oil & Gas UK to hold its Technology Showcase 2014. The event will focus on topics such as enhanced and increased oil recovery methods, digital monitoring and advanced materials and corrosion.
A host of senior representatives from operators and major service companies including BP, Chevron, CNR International, GE Oil & Gas, Shell UK, Statoil, Total E&P UK and TAQA will give presentations at the conference on March 5th at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
The event, which is supported by the Department of Energy and Climate Change and the UK Technology Strategy Board, will also include an exhibition where technology developers and researchers can showcase ground-breaking technologies and research and development capabilities.
Dr Patrick O’Brien, CEO of ITF said: “Technology has always played and will continue to play a crucial role in our industry, and will no doubt contribute to securing remaining North Sea reserves.”
The conference will be chaired by Oonagh Werngren, Operations Director of Oil & Gas UK. She said: “Over the past 50 years, the oil and gas industry has demonstrated an impressive capability for innovation and many new technologies pioneered on the UKCS have been exported globally.
“Future discoveries and average field sizes will be more technically and commercially challenging so it is vital to encourage and sustain investment in technology to ensure the longevity of UKCS production over the coming decades.”
