Scots wave energy developer Pelamis Wave Power is preparing its planning application to Marine Scotland for the first phase of the Farr Point Wave Farm off the Sutherland coast.
The firm is set to hold a series of public meetings next month to gather views and comments about the wave project.
As part of the consultation, Pelamis must present its plans to install 10 of its wave energy generators, to a capacity of 10MW, off the north coast.
The public will also be consulted on the associated anchor, mooring, and site electrical systems for the scheme, and the installation of a subsea power export cable to the shore.
In 2010, Pelamis was granted a seabed lease option from the Crown Estate for the project. Pelamis aims to prove its wave energy generators work and are commercial.
The technology was tested at the European Marine Energy Centre in Orkney.
