French energy giant Total has awarded subsea construction firm Ocean Installer a contract for dredging services at the West Franklin field.
The contract with the Total subsidiary ELF Exploration UK Ltd, will see Ocean Installer carry out excavation and dredging work at the field, which lies around 240km east of Aberdeen in the Central Graben area of the North Sea.
Ocean Installer will carry out the work at a depth of 93 metres, removing the top three metres of earthwork at three drilling rig footpring locations.
The work will be managed from the firm’s Aberdeen office, with chartered construction support vessel Normand Mermaid utilised for the offshore work.
“We are very pleased to have been awarded our second contract with an affiliate of Total E&P UK Limited in less than six months,” said UK managing director Martin Sisley.
“We are now looking forward to further developing our relationship through close co-operation on this project.”
In August 2013, Total awarded Ocean Installer a contract for the recovery of casing at the Tomintoul location, west of the Shetlands.
