Oil services group Petrofac has picked up £65million of new contract extensions in the North Sea – securing more than 300 jobs across the region.
The firm has secured a two year deal to continue providing technical services on the Alwyn platform – around 160km east of Shetland – and the Dunbar rig 22km further south.
Petrofac employs nearly 200 people – 191 offshore – on providing services for the two Total-operated platforms, where it previously held a five-year contract.
The company will also continue as duty holder on Kittiwake’s platform until the end of the year once EnQuest take over the asset later this month.
It employs 95 offshore and 20 onshore personnel to support the platform, which will form part of EnQuest’s new Central North Sea hub, and recently marked eight years without a lost-time incident on the platform, where it has provided support for 11 years.
“Over the last five years we’ve built a good relationship with Total, and given the knowledge and experience we’ve developed of the Alwyn and Dunbar assets I’m delighted the company has exercised their option to extend our contract by a further two years,” said Petrofac European vice president Walter Thain.
“This gives us the opportunity to work together to unlock more value and further extend the life of each of the platforms – our ultimate aim for all our customers’ assets.
“EnQuest has exciting plans for the Greater Kittiwake area and we look forward to helping to deliver them.”
The firm has also agreed a two-year contract from Centrica to provide operation serices for the Rough offshore gas storage facility in the Southern North Sea.
