Lundin has begun work on its Indonesian campaign after drilling a wildcat well in the country’s Natuna Sea.
The Hakuryu 11 has begun drilling the well, to test potential for oil at the Balqis-1 site, which the company believes could have up to 47million barrels of oil in total resources.
The rig will drill a sidetrack immediately after completing the Balqis well, which could yield a further 55million barrels of oil.
The Swedish firm is operator on the site – one of five production sharing contracts it has in Indonesia.
