A further 250 jobs are set to be created through plans for a gas development in the North Sea.
Heerema Fabrication Group near Hartlepool are set to take on the extra staff as they prepare to complete the 1640-tonne topsides for the Cygnus Alpha platform.
The wellhead platform will serve the £1.4billion giant Cygnus field, around 150km off the Lincolnshire coast, and is due to launch next month.
“Cygnus is a flagship for the UK’s excellence in offshore design, engineering and construction,” said GDF Suez project manager John Rogers.
“The project is creating 4,000 direct and indirect jobs across the UK during construction and will deliver 5% of UK domestic gas production at its peak.
“Topside fabrication is progressing safely and to time and we are on track for the first sailaways and installations at the end of March and April respectively.”
The field, which has around 18billion cubic metres of recoverable gas, will power around 1.5million homes once it begins production next year.
