The world’s largest fuel cell park began operations in South Korea consisting of power plants developed by FuelCell Energy.
The 59MW Gyeonggi Green Energy in Hwaseong City provides continuous baseload electricity to the power grid and usable high-quality heat for a district heating system, FuelCell Energy, based in Danbury, Connecticut, said in a statement.
The fuel cells combine a fuel like natural gas with oxygen to produce electricity and usable heat through an electrochemical process, according to the company.
FuelCell Energy is also supplying 19.6MW worth of systems to a fuel cell park in Seoul City which is expected to start running by the end of the year, according to the statement.
