Aberdeen-based information systems firm Collabro received UK Government’s backing for its planned expansion into the US.
Minister for the Cabinet Office Francis Maude visited the company’s Aberdeen office during the Prime Minister’s visit to Aberdeen on Monday aimed at promoting the benefits of the Union with Westminster to Scottish oil industry.
“Growing, ambitious businesses like Collabro are crucial for our long-term plan to build a stronger, more competitive economy,” Maude said.
“Sharing expertise between the private and public sectors will mean we can support innovative, dynamic SMEs to deliver public services in the UK, to win contracts with the private sector and to grow their businesses internationally as well.”
Collabro director, Jannice Grant-Shaw said that expansion into the US was the next planned step in the company’s development.
“Encouragingly, we are continuing to pick up a lot of new clients across a range of different sectors worldwide, not solely in oil and gas,” Grant-Shaw said.
“Around half of our revenues are generated through exporting to foreign markets and we thoroughly expect this figure to swell over the next 18 months.
“On the back of a number of recent contract wins and meetings with prospects – across our offices in the UK, Malaysia, and Australia – it is looking very likely that we will launch an operation in the United States later this year.”
In January the company landed its first major contract win in the Middle East with Maersk for provision of Oil Vantage POB software and associated support services to all assets in the expansive Al Shaheen oilfield, worth around £460,000.
