Bibby Remote Intervention has signed a charter agreement for an inspection repair and maintenance (IRM) construction vessel with Olympic Shipping.
The three-year agreement covers a newly built light construction vessel, the MT6021, which will initially carry out Bibby’s operations in the North Sea following its expected arrival to Aberdeen in April next year, the firm said.
It follows a multi-million pound contract between the two companies in December last year for the provision of remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) for an Olympic vessel.
“This charter builds upon the relationship we have developed with Bibby Offshore and Bibby Remote Intervention, following the commitment of a charter agreement for the Olympic Ares,” said Bjorn Kvalsund, executive vice president for Olympic Shipping.
“We look forward to further strengthening this working relationship with the charter agreement for the MT6021.”
The remote services arm of Bibby Offshore has also added to its fleet two new heavy-duty ROVs – SMD Quasar 150hp models – due to arrive in March and June this year.
The company is looking to deploy the new units for operations in South East Asia and North America.
“The business is now in control of a fleet of nine vessels and 15 ROV,” said Mike Arnold, Bibby Offshore’s chief operating officer for the western hemisphere.
“These new additions demonstrate our ongoing commitment to develop our current capabilities and expand our offering of flexible services to clients on a worldwide basis, and this is a reflection of our significant growth over the past 10 years.”
