Full production has begun from the Juliet North Sea gas field, operator GDF Suez has confirmed.
Output began from the second of two wells on the field earlier this week, following start-up from the first well at the New Year.
Gas from the field, which took less than 18 months to develop, has now hit plateau rates of 80million standard cubic feet of gas a day – the euivalent of 400,000 barrels per month.
“The start-up of the second Juliet well is a significant step in the evolution of GDF SUEZ in the UK as it marks the transition of the Juliet development to a fully producing asset,” said general manager Jean-Claude Perdigues.
Output from the field, which sits 39km east of Lincolnshire in the Southern Gas Basin, is piped to the Pickerill A platform before being transported on to the Theddlethorpe gas terminal.
The field, discovered five years ago, is thought to contain more than 11million barrels of oil equivalent in resources.
