A Granite City occupational health firm has been bought by a global employee health services provider in a multimillion-pound deal.
RS Occupational Health has been acquired by Houston-based DISA Global Solutions for an undisclosed sum.
RS Occupational Health employs around 50 people in Great Yarmouth and Inverness and recently relocated its Aberdeen headquarters to larger premises in the city.
The company was established in 1999 by Fiona Sommerville and Dr Andrew Goodge, who will continue to be closely involved.
Houston-based DISA Global Solutions has been in business since 1987 and specialises in delivering comprehensive employee screening and compliance services to safety-sensitive employers around the globe.
The company’s international services include drug and alcohol testing, background screening, occupational health screening, safety training and transportation compliance.
RS occupational health chairman Fiona Sommerville said: “DISA’s reputation as a quality service provider is exactly in step with our own commitment to delivering consistently high levels of service using innovative technology.
“We believe that this move will pave the way for the next phase in the company’s ongoing and sustained growth.”
DISA president and chief executive Jeff Boyle said: “This acquisition is a game-changing event for our company as a player in the global market and the addition of a company of this calibre allows us to make a strong entry into the UK market.”
