Energy services provider 3Sun Group has named Les Dawson as its new chairman.
The former Southern Water chief executive, who was awarded an OBE in 2008 for services to the energy industry, was most recently chairman at construction firm J Murphy and Sons.
“3sun Group is recognised in the industry as a dynamic and innovative company,” said Mr Dawson.
“Its growth in the last six years is impressive and I look forward to joining the board to share my experience and leadership skills to help deliver the best possible products and services to its clients.”
The Great Yarmouth-based firm, which has a major base in Westhill for its North Sea projects, provides control panels for oil and gas subsea operations, along with installing and maintaining wind turbines.
The company, which was recently awarded a £10million investment from the Business Growth Fund to drive its European expansion, has grown to employ 240 people since launching seven years ago.
“Les’ depth of knowledge and experience, not only of the utilities sector but also in the leadership and strategic delivery of projects, will be invaluable to the company going forward,” said chief executive Graham Hacon.
“We have a number of long-term objectives and growth targets and I am confident that Les and his fellow board members will play a tactical part in leading this expansion.”
