Scottish Energy Minister Fergus Ewing is to deliver the keynote speech at the first of a series of events aimed at opening up the energy industry to the next generation of talent.
“Attract, Train, Retain – Pipeline to Success” is the first in a series of events planned by the Aberdeen Young Professionals (AYP) Group designed to bridge the energy sector’s skills gap by engaging young talent with top decision makers from different industries.
Members of the 4000-strong AYP group will get the chance to pose questions to a panel of oil and gas industry members, along with representatives of Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen University and Oil & Gas UK.
“We are delighted to be able to launch our discussion series with the backing and support of so many industry experts and respected figures of authority,” said David Taylor, co-founder of AYP.
“In response from our members’ demand we decided to launch something a bit different from lecture-based events, and provide young professionals with a unique opportunity to approach hot topics with senior figures.
“The skills shortage in the oil and gas industry is not a quick fix problem, and as a recruitment consultant myself, I believe young professionals are the only viable long-term solution.”
The series will begin on April 9, at the Copthorne Hotel, Aberdeen.
