Aberdeen-based Prodrill Energy Resource Solutions has been announced as a preferred supplier of personnel services for the giant Mariner field development.
The contract, initially ran for a two year period, sets out the sourcing of contractors for Northern North Sea prospect, as well as potentially the Bressay field, both 150kilometres south-east of Shetland.
“This is a huge opportunity for Prodrill,” said Drew Alexander, the firm’s recruitment operations manager.
“It has acted to bolster our position as one of the leading drilling and well services specialist resourcing companies in the country.
“The ability to source and place the right skilled workers, for such projects as these, is becoming increasingly challenging, particularly due to the ever increasing skills gap.
“However, having proved both our position in the market and our dedication to industry knowledge through in-depth research, we are well placed to assist the requirement for skilled personnel.”
The £4.7billion Mariner project holds an estimated recoverable reserves of 250million barrels of oil and is expected to produce around 55,000 barrels per day when it comes online in 2017.
Statoil is the operator of the Mariner field with 65.11% interest. JX Nippon Exploration and Production (28.89%) and Dyas UK (6%) own the remaining shares.
