Burntisland Fabrications (BiFab) has secured a £4million contract to build a giant flare boom for BP.
The boom will be used on the oil giant’s new £4.5billion Clair Ridge platform based 46 miles West of Shetland and due to start production in 2016.
BiFab, which has operations at Burntisland, Methil and Arnish, said the project secured 30 jobs. The firm’s current workforce is around 2,000 and it has trained 100 apprentices in steel fabrication over the past eight years.
John Robertson, BiFab Managing Director, said: “Our facility in Burntisland is ideal for these types of projects.
“We can compete locally and internationally over a wide range of large and small projects ensuring long-term employment opportunities for up to 200 people”.
