Petrofac Training Services is celebrating the official reopening of its fire and emergency response centre in Montrose after a £1.5million upgrade.
The 16-acre site includes nine training modules, three heli-decks and fire training facilities to prepare users for a range of emergency response scenarios. There are also 24 classrooms where trainees can be briefed and debriefed using interactive software.
The site is also greener than before, with PTS – part of global energy service group Petrofac – boasting of a 50% cut in greenhouse gas emissions.
PTS regional director Gordon Caird said: “Since our Montrose fire and emergency training centre opened its doors in 1978 it has played a pivotal role in setting standards and delivering world-class training and assessment to more than 350,000 delegates.
“Our investment sends a clear message to the oil and gas industry – we will remain at your side delivering your training needs, whatever they may be, for the years to come.”
Malcolm Webb, chief executive of industry body Oil and Gas UK, said: “I applaud this farsighted investment in the future of the UK offshore oil and gas industry and the safety of the people who work in it.”
