A major industry director is set to address the offshore workforce at helicopter safety event.
Mark Swan, the director of the Civil Aviation Authority’s (CAA) Safety and Airspace Regulation Group (SARG), will address the attendees of Step Change in Safety’s latest Joined-Up Thinking event.
The event will examine the critical work of the Helicopter Safety Steering Group (HSSG) following the CAA’s most recent report.
Measures in the CAA report include the reconfiguration of seating arrangements – which would mean passengers would only be able to fly if they were seated next to an emergency window exit.
And, from April 1 next year, oil workers who cannot fit through the emergency window while wearing a survival suit will not be allowed to board helicopters.
Helicopter safety, emergency breathing systems, effective communication and the size and shape of the workforce are all set to take the spotlight.
The event will be held on Thursday at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC), from 8am to 2pm.
