Premier Oil today confirmed production was up 13% averaging 65.8 kboepd.
Strong returns from its operated Balmoral Area and its non-operated Wytch Farm were highlighted in the company’s interim management statement.
A successful subsea intervention at Balmoral and additional frome wells coming on-stream at Wytch Farm both fuelled the healthy output.
Discoveries further afield, including its oil and gas find in Kuda Laut, Indonesia and its gas discovery at Kadanwari provide a bright outlook for the year ahead, according to chief executive Simon Lockett.
He said: “Premier is delivering on its stated strategy with good progress made across the portfolio. Production is strong as we improve our operating efficiency.
“Current developments will add production and our new projects are achieving key milestones. We have extended our recent exploration successes with the Kuda Laut discovery, the first of four material wells planned for the next 12 months.”
Elsewhere in the UK, the second phase of development drilling at Premier’s Solan field has also begun.
These UK gains have helped counter delayed production and intermittent shutdowns in the Huntington field.
Future developments include Premier’s Catcher project, which was given the board’s go ahead. It is now awaiting DECC approval of its Field Development Plan. First oil is expected to be achieved in mid-2017.
