Centrica’s Chris Weston has made a strategic exit to take up the helm of Aggreko.
Centrica today announced the surprise exit of its managing director of International Downstream.
After 11 years with the company, Chris has left to take over as Aggreko’s chief executive.
This is the latest management loss for the British gas firm.
Financial director Nick Luff resigned earlier this year in January. He has yet to be replaced.
Centrica confirmed Chris has a 12 month notice period worked into his contract, yet it is still unclear how long of that he will have to see out.
The firm is expected to confirm his date of departure and its succession plan for International Downstream in due course.
The sudden departure is the latest in a string of blows. In the last six months, the company was also forced to issue two profit warnings.
Sam Laidlaw, chief executive of Centrica, said: “Chris has made an important contribution to Centrica over 11 years, leading a number of our businesses, in the UK and North America. We will be sorry to see him leave but recognise that Aggreko offers a great opportunity for him.”
