Cable Solutions Worldwide hailed a multi-million pound deal with Aker Solutions and Kvaerner as a “game changer” for the firm’s fortunes.
The Kintore-based company, which celebrated its 10th anniversary this year, has set up a joint venture “super group” with US based Gaffney-Kroese and South Korean LS Cables as part of a frame agreement to supply electrical wire and cable to the Norwegian sister firms worldwide.
The company, which employs 12 people at its offices at Craigearn Business Park, will provide topside and later subsea cabling to both firms. Kvaerner was listed on the Olso Stock Exchange after being acquired by Aker in 2008.
The joint venture, Cable Solutions GK, will see the group provide the service under an initial three-year frame agreement with the option for another two plus two years extension.
Ricky Gill, joint managing director of Cable Solutions Worldwide, said: “Securing this frame agreement is a complete game changer for us.
“We are a small but highly experienced team of twelve staff in Kintore, but knew we had the contacts and working relationships with other companies to enable us to form a super group which would be able to facilitate such a large-scale agreement.
“The tendering process has been extensive, so to have secured a frame agreement is the best possible outcome for all the hard work and planning that went in to this.
“With years of experience supplying cable into the offshore oil and gas, subsea and marine sectors worldwide, our team has gained unrivalled skills and a unique portfolio of bespoke cable designs through our in-house design department.
“All of our cables are designed using flexible specification wire and materials, making our subsea cable perfect for harsh environment dynamic applications,” he added.
