The biggest asset of the new oil and gas regulator will be its ability to stimulate collaboration, believes Sir Ian Wood.
The “draconian powers” of the newly named industry regulator – the Oil and Gas Authority – will probably never have to be used, as its sole presence will motivate operators to cooperate more eagerly themselves, Sir Ian told Energy Voice.
The author of the Wood Review chaired a session during the second day of the Oil & Gas UK industry conference.
He spoke to Energy Voice about what’s left to learn from foreign regulators, how he judges the rate of progress and the government’s ability to implement the review.
