An Aberdeen energy service company is celebrating after securing two contracts worth around £200million.
CAN Group will provide asset integrity services to ConocoPhillips for the next five years and topsides inspection and integrity support services with Apache in the North Sea for three years.
Firm director Innes Walker said the deals – coupled with an increase in business – will lead to the safeguarding of 150 jobs. Both ConocoPhillips and Apache made the agreements having previously awarded contracts to CAN.
Mr Walker said: “These two contract renewals speak volumes about the confidence our clients place in our services.
“They also underline our role as a major player in asset integrity management where our comprehensive service and high quality engineering are delivering real results.
“We expect to grow rapidly in the next five years by maintaining existing contracts, and securing new business in the North Sea where demand for our proven expertise and unrivalled experience is rising.
“This is due to the greater emphasis being placed on the integrity of aging assets and infrastructure.”
An addition to the contract renewed by ConocoPhillips, which it has held since 1995, is the expanded scope covering all aspects of integrity engineering support services, including structural, corrosion and inspection engineering.
CAN and Engteq, the group’s integrity engineering business, have worked on the continued integrity of Apache’s North Sea assets since 2007.
The Apache agreement will lead to both companies continuing to provide inspection and integrity engineering services to support the management of topsides pressure systems and structures.
ConocoPhilips and Apache have the option of extending the contracts by a further four years.
Formed in 1986, CAN Group has a turnover a £70million and a workforce of more than 700, of which 180 work under the Engteq banner.
About 100 of the current workforce are based in Aberdeen, with the remainder offshore.
