Statoil’s CLOV deepwater development has come on stream offshore Angola.
The Norwegian explorer has a 23.33% interest in block 17, which is operated by Total. The project milestone will add thousands of barrels of equity oil per day for the firm.
“CLOV is important for our development in Angola and a key milestone, adding about 37,000 barrels of equity oil per day (b/d) at plateau for Statoil,” said Lars Christian Bacher, Statoil’s executive vice president for Development and Production International.
Over the next few months the field, which is located 150 kilometers off Luanda in water depths ranging from 1,100 to 1,400 meters, will increase its peak production to 160,000 b/d. It harbours more than 500 million barrels of estimated and proved probable oil reserves.
Esso Exploration Angola and BP also have respective stakes is the block.
The project consists of 34 wells and 8 manifolds connected by 180km of subsea pipelines to a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit.
Last year, Statoil’s equity production in Angola was about 200,000 b/d accounting for 10% of its overall output.
