Norway has reported a preliminary 14% drop in average daily production of oil, natural gas liquids (NGL) and condensate in May compared to the previous month, according to the country’s administrative body.
Figures by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) show a decline of around 22,000 barrels per day (bopd) last month to 1.67 million.
Total gas sales were down by 0.8 billion standard cubic metres (scm) to about 8.2 billion (scm).
The oil production in May was higher than NPD’s forecast at 1.3 million barrels of oil, allowing for a 2% higher yearly output than predicted so far this year.
But the figure still represented 13% smaller output than the same time last year.
The drop was caused by maintenance shut-downs of Brage, Grane, Heidrun, Oseberg and Veslefrikk fields, NPD suggested.
