Trinidad-focused explorer Leni Gas & Oil (LGO) has intersected 187 feet of net oil pay in the Goudron sandstones with its latest well in the prospect.
The GY-667 – the fourth well of its planned 30-well development – has now been cased to a depth 1,905ft to isolate the Goudron Sandstone and the high pressure Upper Gros Morne gas intervals.
The firm will continue drilling to its primary Gros Morne Sandstone oil target, expected at approximately a 2,180 feet true-vertical depth.
The well will also investigate the presence of reservoir potential of the Lower Cruse at the location.
Following the drilling, the GY-667 will be logged and cased, ready for completion as a production well.
“The drilling campaign remains on track and continues to give very encouraging results,” said Neil Ritson, LGO’s chief executive.
“Below the oil pay in the Goudron sands we have again encountered a gas zone with pressures similar to those seen in the recent GY-666 well.
“We expect to drill the productive primary oil reservoir in the next week.”
