North Sea explorer Premier Oil has poached its rival Ophir Energy’s head of investor relations as its new finance director.
Former RBC analyst Richard Rose will join the Premier board on September 8 from his current role in Ophir, which he joined only last year.
He qualified as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Young and spent more than 20 years within the energy sector, including 13 years with a range of international banks, such as HSBC Investment Bank.
Rose was also one of the founding shareholders of stockbroker Oriel Securities, becoming a partner in equity research in 2002, where he was responsible for coverage of the E&P (exploration and production) sector.
At Premier he will fill a position vacated by the current chief executive Tony Durrant who replaced Simon Lockett after his departure amid shareholder fury at poor company performance.
Earlier this year the firm rejected a takeover approach from Ophir, which would have created a combined oil and gas explorer worth £3billion.
“Richard brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, including his time as an advisor to the company in his previous banking roles,” Durrant said.
“I look forward to working with him as we build on the momentum of recent months and create additional value for our shareholders.”
