Engineering firm Babcock International has promoted its finance director to the chief executive role of its international division.
Bill Tame, who has been responsible for the group’s finances since 2002, will move into his new role on August 1, where he will take charge of the group’s operations in South Africa and business development activities in the Middle East.
He will also lead Avincis, the owner of Bond Aviation Group, acquired by Babcock earlier this year.
Tame’s former role will be taken over by Franco Martinelli, the group’s financial controller, who has worked alongside Tame for the last 12 years.
Martinelli will also join Babcock’s board as an executive director.
“For the past 12 years Bill has provided excellent financial leadership for the group as it has grown and developed,” said Peter Rogers, group chief executive at Babcock.
“I look forward to continuing to work with him as he progresses the significant opportunities for the enlarged international division and the group following the Avincis acquisition.
“I am delighted that we have been able to appoint Franco as Group Finance Director to maintain strong financial leadership.”
