Oil and gas services provider Petrofac has won a maintenance build contract for the Shah Deniz 2 project worth £5million.
The deal with BP covers new onshore, offshore and pipeline assets in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea for what is one of the largest gas developments in the world.
The Shah Deniz field is expected to produce up to 16 billion cubic metres of gas per year and up to 120,00 barrels of condensate per day when it comes on line in late 2018.
It will add to the current nine billion cubic metres per year produced by Shah Deniz 1, through the opening of a new Southern Gas Corridor to Europe.
Under the terms of the contract, Petrofac’s consulting business Plant Asset Management will carry out the full scope of work, including the development of reliability and maintenance strategies, validation of the master equipment list, creation of a maintenance assignment and the development of computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) data.
“We are thrilled to be supporting BP with one of their most ambitious projects and for the further opportunity to highlight the skills of our high calibre consultants, engineers, developers and analysts,” said Steve Johnson, vice president of Plant Asset Management.
This is the latest contract for the milestone project, following awards to Wood Group Kenny and Expro in June amounting to £96million in total.
