A gang of armed men targeted an oilfield in northern Colombia.
Bombs were set off as part of the offensive strategy aimed at the Tibu Field, which is located close to the Venezuelan border, according to Ecopetrol.
The facility, which has been producing oil since 1944, was damaged in the attack, however, all of the personnel were safe and accounted for, according to the state firm.
The event, which unfolded on Friday, is the latest in a string of attacks aimed at the state-owned oil company.
The Tibu Field is one of Ecopetrol’s sites poised for significant growth. It aims to unlock an estimated 100million barrels in reserves and increase production from 1,800 barrels per day to 15,000bpd.
