A major contract has been awarded to Philippines fabricator Atlantic Gulf and Pacific Company (AG&P) to build process modules for one of the world’s largest LNG projects in Russia.
The company will carry out work on the Yamal liquefied natural gas(LNG) project which is based in the estuary of the Ob River and is ice-bound nine months of the year.
The project is located in Sabetta, north-east of the Yamal Peninsula and is the first ever LNG development venture in the Arctic.
Augusto G. Gan, managing director of AG&P said:“It is a privilege for AG&P to support the grand vision of Yamal LNG.
“AG&P’s selection is a result of the hard work of our outstanding people and is an example of the confidence the world is showing toward the Philippines.
“A significant milestone in the history of our company, AG&P looks forward to building these complex and exciting modules to the highest levels of safety and quality in our state of-the-art yards outside of Manila.”
The company said it expects to create thousands of jobs to service the Yamal LNG Project.
It will eventually involve the drilling of more than 200 wells, and the construction of 3 LNG trains, each with a capacity of 5.5 million tons per year, and a vast gas terminal.
