Brazilian energy firm Petrobras has made the first ever gas discovery in Colombian Caribbean deep waters.
The Rio de Janeiro-quartered company said natural gas was found just off the coast of La Guajira.
The well drilling ended in September and reached 4,240 metres. The water depth was 674 metres.
Gas accumulation was established at 3,600 metres.
The news comes after the cooperation discovered oil at a well in the giant Liberia project.
Petrobras said it will continue planned operations to assess the finding.
