Fire protection company Blaze Manufacturing Solutions is poised to increase both revenues and staff by more than 20% this year 2015 after securing a string of deals worth a total of £2million.
Contracts won by the Laurencekirk-based firm, which supplies fire protection systems to oil and gas operators, include a chemical cleaning services deal worth around £1million.
Blaze – which lists Amec, Petrofac, Taqa and Wood Group among its clients – secured a pair of multi-million pound contracts last year, [2013-14] which boosted turnover to £18.25million.
Revenues are expected to hit £22million this year – [2014-15] while the firm’s head count is forecast to increase by 20% above the current 30 staff and 100 contractors.
The expansion follows a raft of senior appointments last year [2014] during which Cara Beamish was named as business manager and the safety critical systems division welcomed Bill Cunningham as general manager and Stephen Pratt as project manager.
Howard Johnson, managing director at Blaze, said: “We are delighted to be entering 2015 with a very healthy order book after securing a number of new contracts, and we are currently in talks with a number of major names in the industry about further projects.
“The oil and gas industry is a niche market for fire safety protection systems, and 2015 will continue to be extremely busy for the company as we strive to grow our broad portfolio of services and equipment.”
Howard and Ann Johnson founded the family-owned company in 2006 before opening a regional office in Great Yarmouth to cope with demand from the southern sector of the North Sea and a sales office in Milton Keynes.
The business has also invested £500,000 in its head office at Laurencekirk Business Park and has opened an office at Kemnay, near Inverurie, to focus on specialist environmental engineering services, including chemical cleaning, fire and gas detection, and integrated maintenance
