Aberdeen firm North Star Shipping has had its strong safety record recognised by one of the world’s leading health and safety bodies, the British Safety Council (BSC), in three separate areas.
The international safety award was won for a 14th consecutive year and for a second year running with distinction as a result of its record for preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health over the past year.
North Star, a division of shipping and energy service company Craig Group, also achieved the highest rating possible following a BSC occupational health and safety audit.
Callum Bruce, North Star managing director, said: “To achieve such high marks reinforces how important health and safety is across our entire company and that we place safety as the most critical element in all our operations.
“The audit gives credit to the hard work of all our crews and staff who ensure a safe working environment 365 days a year.”
North Star is now looking to achieve the BSC’s “Sword of Honour”, which represents the pinnacle of achievement in the world of health and safety management.
