A flow test will be carried out on the Horse Hill-1 development later this year.
The onshore site is in the UK’s Weald basin.
Earlier this month it was estimated by UKOG (UK Oil & Gas) that there could be an estimated 100 billion barrels of oil in the South of England.
However it was warned only a fraction of the find would be recoverable.
Solo Oil, which has an interest in the development, said Horse Hill Developments has already applied to the OGA (Oil and Gas Authority) for a one year extension of the exploration period of PEDL137.
A spokesman said Horse Hill Developments now plans to conduct a flow test on Horse-Hill 1 later in 2015 with plans for consent already being submitted.
